5 girls and many guns

After having offered with Gonin a good quality B movie, Ishii Takashi offers with Gonin 2 something of a follow-up representing a huge disappointment. With a girl and a gun cinema made classics whereas this part 2 proposes 5 women, many guns and brilliant actor Ogata Ken. But it does not manage to exceed médiocre exploitation cinema. The topic of the condition of the woman in a sexist Japan is never developped here. n the contrary, the screenplay is nothing more than series of exploitation cinema clichés. And in this case the difference between bad and good B cinema is due to a few things, i.e. the quality of the stylistic treatment. However here there is many bad framings, flashy wide angles, uninspired seventies-like zoom and an uneven editing. The "narratif hole" of the end confirms the feeling of failure. Gonin 2 thus never exceeds the status of a bloody direct to video.
